Send me to rehab... I'm a junkie!!!

At supper time we finally went home, only to head back out again after dark for a game of kick the can. Our parents had to force us to come in to take a bath and go to bed.

We didn’t worry about sunscreen or insect repellant. Sun burn and mosquito bites were just a part of summer. With all of the time in the woods and in the creek, we should have worried about copperheads and water moccasins and poisonous spiders. Hundreds of ticks were removed at our house alone. We had bumps and bruises and scrapes and broken bones, yet we are all still alive.

Now, kids have play dates, sports and lessons. It takes me forever to see anything good (or bad for that matter). My kid goes to the movies with her friends and really doesn’t want Mom tagging along.

Anyway, Jon Stewart is doing a great job hosting. He has the right amount of funny without all the song and dance that Billy Crystal did and none of the silliness of Ellen Degeneres. I had a boy.” This supposed to be a funny story in my family. Somehow, to me, it isn’t.

I think that beds are wonderful things. I like my bed in particular. It’s very comfy and it has lots of pillows and I figure that if I don’t get lucky in it, I can always sleep.

10. I believe in The Storyteller’s Creed:

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge,

That myth is more potent than history,

That dreams are more powerful than facts,

That hope always triumphs over experience,

That laughter is the only cure for grief,

And I believe that love is stronger than death.

"Studio 60", the absolute best thing on television right now was teetering on the brink of extinction. However, someone up there has made the right decision for a change. This wonderful show has been picked up for the rest of the season!!!!

Life is good.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

No… not Christmas or even Halloween. It’s Election time!!! As a self-confessed news junkie, I thrive on the polls, the pundits, the political ads… especially the negative ones. I’m always amazed at the depths to which some candidates will sink in an attempt to win an election.

Of course, this is just a mid-term election. The big guns will come out in 2008, but for now, I find myself more amused every day. Trust me if you aren’t watching the news this next week, you are going to miss out on some extremely funny stuff.

There’s a candidate who tried to call his office from a hotel. He misdialed by one digit and got a sex hot line at $1.25 per minute. He hung up immediately and called the correct number, but both showed up on his hotel bill. His opponent made an entire ad about how he charged the tax payers to call a sex line. I'm sure many will be fooled by this.... NOT!

Another candidate has been consistently voting against the war in Iraq, but he has voted to keep some grants going that happen to study some pretty racy stuff. Again, an entire add about how he is financing studies on the sex habits of Vietnamese prostitutes, the masturbation habits of older men, and something about teenage girls watching porn. He didn’t initiate these studies, just voted to continue the grants that happen to fund these studies.

Then there’s the news. Bush took a day to stump for two candidates that have some serious issues going on! The first cheated on his wife and was charged with assault for allegedly hitting his mistress. Yeah, he sounds reliable. Then he went to Virginia to assist George “Macaca” Allen, who has been accused of using racial slurs and denying his Jewish heritage. Would helping either of these guys be a good political move? Who knows? I just hope that they keep it up. It keeps me entertained.

I mainly signed up here to keep up with a few friends that I used to keep up with other places on line. Since circumstances have conspired to keep us from seeing each other there, we all ended up here. I have a couple of other blogs, so I will probably not spend a lot of time writing here. However, I recently came upon a couple of things that amused me that I thought I'd share.
